Common Questions
How do I make an appointment?
If you would like to make an appointment please contact me by phone at (615) 438-3132.
I see clients from 8am- 6pm on Monday - Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
What are your rates?
My session rate is $200 for adolescent or individual.I accept cash, checks, Zelle, or credit cards at the beginning of the appointment.
Do you accept insurance?
Families wanting to use their insurance should carefully check how their plan handles out-of-network providers. Families using insurance will pay the session fee directly to me and then submit their receipts to their insurance carrier for reimbursement. Many companies will reimburse for services provided by a counselor holding a license. One consideration when using insurance is that I will be required to give a formal diagnosis, which will become part of your medical records. Some families choose to pay out of pocket to avoid this information becoming part of their records.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations should be made by phone 24 hours in advance; without the requested notice, you are responsible for the session fee.
How long is counseling?
Single sessions are 50 minutes in length although some clients prefer to use double sessions in order to intensify their growth..
As the parent, how much information do I get about my child's counseling?
As the parent or guardian you are legally entitled to know everything that goes on in sessions, however my experience has shown that this often greatly diminishes the effectiveness of counseling. Many young people find counseling to be a safe place where they can talk about things that they find difficult to share with their families for any number of reasons. I generally share information based largely on the age of the client. By the time your child is 15 or 16, I typically don't share much more than the scheduling with parents. The exception would be any safety concern or serious issue meriting follow up with a doctor, school, etc. You will always be informed if I have concern for your child's safety.
Regardless of the amount of information shared, I will always make a middle-school or older child aware of exactly what information will be shared with parents.
Is therapy confidential?
In general, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and counselor. No information is disclosed without prior written permission from the client.
However, there are some exceptions required by law to this rule. Exceptions include:

In general, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and counselor. No information is disclosed without prior written permission from the client.
However, there are some exceptions required by law to this rule. Exceptions include:
- Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse. The therapist is required to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
- If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person. The therapist is required to notify the police.
- If a client intends to harm himself or herself. The therapist will make every effort to work with the individual to ensure their safety. However, if an individual does not cooperate, additional measures may need to be taken.
